Windsurfing: Levington Wind Direction: wsw Wind Stength: 10/25 Surf / Sea State: mega chop Air Temperature: 8 Sea Temperature: 6 Weather: v sunny Max Speed: 24.1 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 12.4 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Went for an early start as high water was 9.30,so we were having breakfast
at the waters edge by 9 with the west wind gusting to 25 mph!!! So I
decided to live dangerously and rig my new Tushingham (secondhand-I love
ebay) x-15 6.4 and try my 79lt F2 Thommem 265 slalom board - big mistake
!!! After floundering out into the middle of the river with the tide just
starting to ebb and not enough wind to waterstart I ended up in the middle
of Levington bay leaving me a mile walk back !!! So I took my boom back to
the van - it was a lovelly morning for a nice walk along the river - I
rigged some proper windsurfing gear my 7.5 on the Xantos.I had abit better
time on this but the conditions were very poor with extra gusty winds and
appalling short chop so good speeds were impossible!!! Roger and Paul
Vickers were out with sails between 5.7 and 6.5 and had an okay session. So
now the 5 star part of the day a lovelly walk around the bay to retrieve my
small kit then a walk to the Ship for liver and bacon with pecan pie for
afters!!! Only problem on the walk back was the weather turned nasty and we
got soaked before we made it to the van!! Just got to say thanks to Maggie
for helping me carry my gear back and to never take such a small board out
in the river !! The Ray here I come !!!
PS I have really knackered my knee with the bumpy windsurfing and the long
walk !!! just as well I'm not going to Tarifa this week with several of the
Felixstowe gang !!!
